MESSAGE FROM
VICE-CHANCELLOR |
Oh!
How I wish I could relive every moment of the year 2001
which proved to be an eventful years in the annals of SASTRA.
This year witnessed dramatic events that brought SASTRA to
the forefront in the field of higher education. Overseas
educational tours, Establishment of Prof. Hideo Nakamura Chair
for Indo-Japanese Studies, The visit of Their Holinesses of
Kanchi, Conferment of Deemed University status, Inauguration
of TIFAC – CORE building, International Conference on
Nano Computing, Launch of Digital Library project, etc are some
of the events that I immediately can recall with fond
memories.
The
year that saw the transition of Shanmugha College of
Engineering to Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology &
Research Academy (SASTRA) Deemed University saw all
unprecedented rush in the number of students seeking admission
to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate & Ph.D. programmes.
SASTRA University has constantly strived to meet the high
expectations of its stakeholders and has caved a niche in the
field of higher education. The various infrastructure
facilities are ample testimony to this. The Commitment
of the teaching faculty towards research and tutoring has
always been on the high.
I
am glad we are signing this year with a very happy note and I
am sure with the blessings of the Almighty and good wishes of
readers like you. SASTRA University will grow by leaps
and bounds. I am reminded of a popular Quote:
“
The rung of a ladder was never meant to rest upon, But only to
hold a man’s foot, Long to enable him to put the other some
what higher”.
I
take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New
Year. I also wish that 2002 offers more glad news for
ITIHAS.
