MESSAGE FROM
VICE-CHANCELLOR |
It really gives me
great pleasure to meet all of you
through ITIHAS and the pleasure doubles with the
realization of the fact that SASTRA
on April 26, 2002 completed one year
as a Deemed University. I, on
behalf of SASTRA University whole-heartedly thank all
those who were responsible for this achievement.
It is in this new
elevated status of academic excellence that SASTRA
further increased its quality of
higher education and thus surpassing standards already
set.
We
in SASTRA do not seek to maintain status quo nor settle for
observing change; rather, we hope to be a powerful instrument
of change using our dynamic verve to make useful contributions
to the world. It
is in this line of action that SASTRA has introduced B.Tech.
programmes in Bio Engineering & Bio Technology.
It is beyond any doubt that Bio Engineering/Technology
is emerging as the key area that would revolutionize the
way in which things would be done in the future. So
much is the popularity it has gained in the USA that millions
of dollars have been invested in this field which can now be
referred to as "the chip of the new block."
The
Satellite Campus of SASTRA
in Kumbakonam is also offering dual major undergraduate
science degrees. This not only increases the employability of
the graduates but also offers a multitude of choices for their
postgraduate studies.
SASTRA
in its new avatar has a lot of new achievements in its line of
activities which include new courses, new buildings, new
infrastructure, new MoUs, new academic ideas, etc.
An ample testimony to these is the score of
77% awarded to SASTRA by NAAC and accredited with a
status equivalent cut to FIVE STAR.
SASTRA
is stepping into yet another academic year and I am sure that
this would be another year of success studded with unique
achievements.
