SASTRA Wins Ramamani Taxation Moot

The School of Law, SASTRA University won the 3rd K.R.Ramamani Taxation Moot Court competition conducted by the School of Excellence, TN Dr.Ambedkar Law University. The team comprising A.G.Sweta, Akshaya P Sachin, Aishwarya K. Iyer from SASTRA University beat ILS, Pune in the finals of the Taxation moot court. The moot problem was on the issue of retrospective amendments and its impact on international taxation. The team from SASTRA won the cash prize of Rs.50,000 and also the prize for the best memorials. A total 26 teams from all over the country participated with SVKM and GLC, Mumbai being the other two semi-finalists. The panel of judges comprised Justice Mr. T.Raja, Judge, High Court of Madras, Justice (Retd.) Mr.N.V.Balasubramaniama and Mr.Arvind Pandian, Addl. AG of TN. “This winning performance has put the School of Law at SASTRA university into the legal limelight and we welcome the 40 teams who have registered for TARKA SASTRA, SASTRA’s arbitration moot court on March 29 to 31, 2013.” said a beaming Sweta, for whom this was a dream coming true. “Beating ILS & GLC, was like the Indian cricket team beating Pakistan & Australia in the World Cup” said Akshaya.
