Project Title Investigating the effect of Osmolytes on the Interplay of Dynamics of Water, protein and DNA: Implications for Modulating Protein-DNA Specificity
Funding Agency Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
Duration of Project 2018 – 2021
Fellowship As per norms
Essential qualification First class in M. Sc. or M. Tech. (Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Physics, or related fields). (The project is computational in nature and will involve molecular simulations and scripting.
Project Description Engineering the specificity in protein-DNA interactions has immense therapeutic potential. However, a rational guideline to engineering specificity has been elusive till-date primarily because of the lack of fundamental understanding of the interplay between various factors contributing to protein-DNA interactions. This project aims at understanding the interplay of water and protein dynamics towards specificity in protein-DNA interactions. The project will employ computational methods (molecular dynamics simulations) to address the research question.
